Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme (YES) program
Barbados Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs, and Sports
Making Cents supported the Barbados Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs, and Sports in the implementation of the YES program, which fosters an entrepreneurial climate while empowering young people to create successful business ventures that increase the number of successful microenterprises owned and operated by young people and the overall employment among youth. We strengthened business skills and entrepreneurial education in secondary schools by providing youth entrepreneurship teacher-training courses and a comprehensive skills-training package. The goal was to promote the personal development of entrepreneurs, enhance business management skills, and foster good business planning practices. As a result of the ongoing success of the YES program, the Barbados MOE has fully integrated the YES curriculum and training throughout the country’s public secondary school system.
